Jackie Allen Stephens Sr., 68, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the VA Mountain Home, Johnson City, TN, after a lengthy illness. Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Nathaniel and Audrey Mae Stephens, and siblings Gary, Veta, and Randy.

Jackie was born in Johnson City, TN on August 20, 1949. He was a graduate of Science Hill High School and served in the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal during his service. Jackie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Johnson City, TN. He was employed by General Mills Johnson City, TN., and Mayes Bros Tools until his retirement.

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 42 years, Jan Etta Stephens, of the home, son Jackie Jr., daughter, Jessica (Cory) Whitfield, and two grandsons, Nathaniel and Isaac, of Elizabethton. Three sisters, Joann Dockery (Flint, MI), Sandra Stephens, and Carolyn Fain of Johnson City. Two brothers, Ronnie (Vanessa) Stephens and Leon (Carol) Stephens of Johnson City, TN. An uncle, Paul (Joyce) Goines, and aunt Virginia Goines of Johnson City. Mother in law, Pearl Smith of Elizabethton, TN. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, two godsons Barry Owens, Jr. and Jeremiah Turner, and a special brother in law, Barry Owens, Sr. of Bessemer, AL.

Funeral services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 522 Main St. Johnson City, TN on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 7pm with receiving of friends from 6-7pm. Interment services will be held at the VA Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City, TN on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 10:45am
