Harley Gene Potter

Harley Gene Potter, 72, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Gene was a native of Carter County and a 1962 graduate of Hampton High School. He owned and operated New Way Plumbing for several years. He was an Evangelist and attended Earnestville Free Will Baptist Church, Erwin.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Baumgardner Potter; his father, Harley Potter; a sister, Deborah Potter; and a brother, Johnny Potter, who passed away September 15, 2017.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Sams Potter, Hampton, and his children, Emily Jeanette Stewart and companion, Benji Hensley, Robert Potter and Micha Potter and wife Apryl, all of Elizabethton, and Nathan Potter and companion Jim, Blountville; four sisters, Pamela Ward and husband Raymond, Janet Rouse and husband John and Pat Morton, all of Elizabethton, and Regina Smith and husband J.D., Hampton; eight grandchildren, Macey Cole and husband Noah, Teddy Vines, Heidi Stewart, Tara, Dakota, Cheyenne, McKenna and Dustin Potter, all of Elizabethton; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A receiving of friends will be held at Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, corner of Roan Street and Manning Street, from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 29. It was his request to be cremated. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
