Shirley McNutt Morgan

Shirley McNutt Morgan, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice in Albuquerque. Shirley was born in Bristol, Tenn., to the late Henderson W. McNutt and Zula Draper McNutt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank H. Morgan; a brother, Jack McNutt; and a sister, Mary Ellen Nidiffer.
Shirley was a loving wife, a caring mother and productive professional. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Johnson City, Tenn., and the Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church of Albuquerque, N.M. She retired as a Field Agent with the Internal Revenue Service. She was a graduate of Elizabethton’s High School Class of 1942. She enjoyed sewing and was known as the family historian. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Rebecca L. Morgan and husband Jep Choate, of Albuquerque, N.M.; a nephew, Robert L. Nidiffer and wife Cindy, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and cousins, Claudine Booher, of North Carolina, Phil Draper, of Arizona, Roger Draper, of Tennessee, and Norman Draper, of Tennessee. Several other beloved cousins and distant relatives also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Shirley McNutt Morgan will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October, 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park, 2508 Elizabethton Highway, Elizabethton, Tenn., with her son-in-law, Jep Choate, officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers are asked to make a donation in Shirley’s name to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1910 E. Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601-2126.
