Bob R. Vines Sr.

Bob R. Vines Sr., 79, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at his residence after a brief illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Dewey and Virtie Stines Vines.
Bob was a retired automotive mechanic, having been employed at Dixie Battery for 28 years. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. He loved restoring old cars and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Norman and Tony Vines, and a sister, Martha Guinn.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ann Keller Vines; three children, Bobby Vines Jr. and wife Angie, Elizabethton, Kenny Vines and wife Marta, Lexington, Ky., and Debbie Foster and husband David, Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Derrick, Eric and Andrew Vines and Devin Foster; two brothers, Gilbert Vines and wife Hilda, Elizabethton, and Danny Vines and wife Angela, Jonesborough; a sister, Vickie Snyder and husband Danny, Gray; several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Artie.
Funeral services for Bob R. Vines Sr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chris Shumate officiating. The entombment service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Cole officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family and Harold Hicks. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Avalon Hospice, Dr. Elizabeth Defluiter and her staff, and the staff of ICU, Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
