Soon the search will begin for a new Tourism Coordinator at the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce.
The previous Tourism Coordinator Kayla Carter left her role at the Chamber on Friday to take on a new position with the Northeast Tennessee Regional Economic Partnership. Carter had served as Tourism Coordinator for Carter County since June 2016.
Chamber Director Tonya Stevens said she and the Chamber’s Board will soon begin the search for Carter’s replacement. Before advertising the position, Stevens said she and the Board’s Executive Committee will be meeting to review the job description for the Tourism Coordinator to see if they want to make any adjustments or changes to the duties of the position before opening it up for applications. The Executive Committee will also set a time frame and schedule for the application process and hiring, Stevens said.
“We will begin that search very soon,” Stevens said, adding she anticipates opening the application process within a week.
The Tourism Coordinator role is a full-time salaried position with benefits, Stevens said.
“We are looking for someone who comes with a good energy,” Stevens said of the position, adding it would be beneficial if the candidate was already familiar with the community and the tourism assets here.
According to Stevens, the Board is hoping to hire someone who has prior experience working with tourism or working to promote local businesses.
While the application process has not formally opened, Stevens said anyone interested in the Tourism Coordinator position can contact her at the Chamber of Commerce if they have questions. Once the Executive Committee meets to discuss the job description and timeframe for filling the position, Stevens said the application process will officially open.
