For many, Carter County is about family and a sense of community. While we are truly blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, it is the people who live and work here who make Carter County what it is.
Coretta Scott King once said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” We feel that Elizabethton graciously reflects that sentiment.
There are countless men and women, businesses and organizations, who shape this community and make it what it is. This can be seen with a stroll downtown to gaze at the names on the Veterans Wall of Honor. It is evident when the community bands together in the wake of a tragic event. It is perhaps most apparent in the dedication of those running nonprofit organizations such as the Isaiah 117 House, TLC Community Center, Assistance Resource Ministries, the United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County and a host of other groups who put helping others even before their own needs. It can been seen at the Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County in the hearts of the staff who are not only providing care to the youth at the Club, but helping train them to be the next generation of leaders for this community.
The Elizabethton Star is launching a new quarterly magazine, called Carter County Living. With this magazine we will be sharing with you some of the stories of the people, organizations, and places that help shape our community. We invite you to join us in celebrating our community and what makes it truly special.
The first edition of Carter County Living is now available. The magazine can be picked up at the Elizabethton Star, the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce, and a host of other local businesses and offices. However, quantities are limited, so to guarantee you get a copy, contact the Elizabethton Star office and start your subscription today.
