Alexander “Mack” McClelland

Alexander “Mack” McClelland, 80, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at his residence. Mack was born in Douglas, Ga., on April 27, 1937 to the late Leonard Arley McClelland and Virginia Garbett McClelland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Diana McClelland, and two sisters, Faye McClelland and Vera McClelland.
Mack had owned and operated Elizabethton Insurance Company for 25 years and was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran. Mack loved his motorcycle and logged 93,000 miles on it. He enjoyed camping and also proudly built his own house.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 4+ years, Carol Parlier McClelland, of the home; his sons, Josh McClelland and wife Gina, of Georgia, Chad McClelland and wife Tena, of Johnson City, Travis Templeton and Kevin Templeton and wife Angela; his grandchildren, Christina McClelland, Joshua McClelland, Madison McClelland, Joshua Templeton and Bailey Templeton; five great-grandchildren; and his siblings, J.L. McClelland and wife Louise, Geraldine Johnson and husband Rudolph, Leon McClelland and wife Peggy, Brenda Tyler and husband Richard and Peggy Kibbey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Alexander Mack McClelland will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 28, at Lynn Valley Baptist Church of Elizabethton with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dale Williams and Emery Cordell. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Monday, January 29, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Buddy Johnson, Jimmy McClelland, Greg Duss, Gary Wayne King, Steve McClelland and Joshua Templeton. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
