KNOXVILLE — William Schettler Worth, 60, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, after a long hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ann Schettler Worth.
Mr. Worth was a 1975 graduate of Red Bank High School and a 1993 graduate of North Texas with a degree in Emergency Administration and Planning. He joined TEMA in 1994 and became director of east region in 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Pamala Tipton Worth; his aunt, who was his second mother, Barbara Donnelly of Colleyville, Texas; brother, Michael (Lon) Worth of Des Plaines, Ill.; half sister, Joan Worth of Chapel Hill, N.C.; special cousins, Linda Donnelly, Rick Donnelly, Peggy Sthilaire and Rick Worth of California; mother-in-law, Shirley Tipton of Roan Mountain; special sisters and brothers-in-law, Dinah Woodby, Roger Dean (Brenda) Tipton, Melody (Jerry) Moore and Priscilla Ann (Joe) Trivette; several nieces and nephews including Joseph Trivette, his buddy who shared his love of cars; his TEMA family who he loved with all his heart; too many friends and relatives to name; his cat Priscilla, who never left his side during his sickness; and special neighbors, Jeff and Phyllis Hodge and Bill and Marie Guinn. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and his nurse Jamie for their care, and to the staff of Kroger pharmacy who were a Godsend.
Pallbearers will be Roger Tipton, Jerry Moore, Joe Trivette, Johnny Tipton, Joseph Trivette Jr., Tyler Chambers, Larry Tipton and Jim Carr. Honorary pallbearers are members of TEMA; EMA Directors of East Regions, First Responders, Dwayne Collins, Jessie Brooks, Chris Johnson and Jane Waldrop. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 201 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, February 10, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel, followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service officiated by Chaplain Paul Trumpore Sr. Family and friends will meet at West View Cemetery, 1300 Monroe Street, Sweetwater, TN 37874 at 3:30 p.m. for a graveside service.
