Linda Sommers, 58, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the home of her mother. She was the daughter of Lucy Greene Guinn of Elizabethton and the late Billy Guinn. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Hardin, and a brother, Bill Guinn.
Mrs. Sommers was a homemaker and a member of Upper Gap Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She was a caregiver and loved being with her family.
In addition to her mother, others left to cherish her memory include her husband of 36 years, Joseph Sommers, of the home; three sons, Glen Payne and his wife, Brandi, Elizabethton, Billy Joe Sommers and his wife, Michelle, Johnson City, and Robert Sommers, Elizabethton; and six grandchildren, Gracie Payne, Evie Payne, Kendric Sommers, Khloe Sommers, Robert Sommers Jr. and Lucy Sommers. Two sisters also survive, Brenda Hardin and Jennie Bradley, both of Elizabethton, along with several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sommers will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, February 19, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Dale Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
