Joyce Sue Dugger, 78, of Johnson City, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. Joyce was born in Carter County to the late Jett and Rosa Nell Ward Dugger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Wilson, Anna Pate and Laura Taylor, and two brothers, Jimmy Dugger and Clarence Dugger.
Joyce retired from Sycamore Shoals Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and she loved sports, especially UT football and the Dallas Cowboys. Joyce also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sisters, Artha Loveless and Hannah Mae Whitehead; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Joyce Sue Dugger will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with her great-nephew, Joshua Pate, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Hyder Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Happy Valley High School Class of 1957.
