Jerry Len Reed, 81, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from his residence. Jerry was born in Washington County, but had lived in Carter County most of his life. He was a son of the late Bernie Clinton Reed and EvaLee Peterson Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Reed; one brother, John Reed; and two sisters, JoAnn Bryant and Betty Morris.
Jerry retired as a millwright and was of the Baptist faith. He was a horseman and a farrier and enjoyed horseback riding and loved anything to do with horses.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Irene Parlier Reed, of the home; two daughters, Penny Livingston and Vicki Irick, both of Elizabethton; two sons, Michael Reed, Elizabethton, and Eddie Reed and partner, Henry Tietz, San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Sarah Sherrill, Kannapolis, N.C., and Lena Deal, Greenwood, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Judy Reed, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Jerry Len Reed will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice, especially Lori, Gail and Samantha, for the love and care shown to Mr. Reed during his illness.
