Phyllis Davenport, 75, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2018, at her residence. Phyllis was born in Butler, Tenn., to the late Jady and Faye Robinson Fritts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bobby Joe Davenport; two brothers, Malcolm Fritts and Kenneth Fritts; and a daughter, Kathy Davenport.
Phyllis was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be missed tremendously by all who knew her. She was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Richard Davenport of Elizabethton; her daughter, Donna Royston and husband Danny of Lake Wylie, S.C.; three grandchildren, Devin Trivette, Kayla Davenport and Bobby Davenport; her sister, Helen Huffine of Elizabethton; and her special friend, Lee Hamm of Elizabethton.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Phyllis Davenport will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. James Henson and Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Allen Smith, Bobby Davenport, Austin Jaynes, Jimmy Bowling, John Pansock and Gordon Nidiffer. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 12:45 p.m. Sunday to go in procession. The family wishes to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the love and care shown to Phyllis during her illness.
