Richard Paul “Ricky” Smith

Richard Paul “Ricky” Smith, 70, of Greeneville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, after a lengthy illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Paul “Hugh” and Marie Kyte Smith.
Ricky was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the United States Army and was retired from American Air Filter.
Ricky was an avid Vols fan and loved to hear “It’s football time in Tennessee!” He also loved to watch the Lady Vols play basketball. He was of the Baptist Faith. He had lived most of his life in Carter County.
Survivors include three daughters, Lisa “Shelly” Smith Gambill, Johnson City, Christie Locklear and Vickie Locklear, both of Elizabethton; one son, Marcus Smith, Elizabethton; two brothers, Mitchell Smith and Billy Smith, both of Hampton; one sister, Susan Bitner, Johnson City; five granddaughters and one grandson; a very special friend, Betty Carpenter; and his faithful dog, Smokey.
A service to celebrate the life of Ricky Smith will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Pete Tackett officiating. His brother, Billy Smith, will give a Eulogy. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. It was his wish to be cremated.
