Martha Etta Hubbard VanHuss

Martha Etta Hubbard VanHuss, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earnest B. and Mary Etta Stamey Hubbard.
Martha was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Steed College. She worked at Allen Taylor Pharmacy prior to going to the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center where she had worked for 32 years as a Respiratory Therapist.
Martha was Miss Rhododendron in 1952. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorene Bare and Mildred Greene, and a brother, Paul Hubbard.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, K.S. “Dick” VanHuss; two children, Jeff VanHuss and wife Cherie, Powder Springs, Ga., and M. Lissa VanHuss, Knoxville; one grandson, Turner Milan and his father, Jimmy W. Milan, Knoxville; one brother, Harold Hubbard and wife Virginia, Elizabethton; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Martha VanHuss will be conducted at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Polk officiating. Music will be provided by Laney Falin and Holly Falin. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 6th Floor of Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Christina Hutchins and Dr. Devapiran Jaishankar. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
