Geraldine Scalf Grindstaff

Geraldine Scalf Grindstaff, 85, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville.
A native of Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Rhuda and Maggie Alford Scalf. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.
Geraldine attended Unaka High School. She was retired from Johnson City Medical Center in the Day Surgery Department. She was a member of Unaka Baptist Church but attended Mountain View Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dean Grindstaff; a son, Steve Grindstaff; a twin sister at birth; another sister, Elaine Traylor; and two brothers, Sam and Edward Scalf.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Judge Pippin, Knoxville; four grandsons, Seth Pippin and wife Malorie, Stephen Pippin, Jordan Grindstaff and John Goodwin and wife Ketasha; two great-grandsons, Eli Pippin and Graham Goodwin; two great-granddaughters, Gracen Goodwin and Emmy Pippin; a special cousin, who was the same as her sister, Claudia Ensor; and two special nieces, Ann Fortner and Sandra Gobrol.
Private services for Geraldine Scalf Grindstaff will be held Saturday, March 31, at 1 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 204 W. Walnut Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
