Clark F. Peyatt Jr., of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on March 30, 2018. He was born in Fayetteville, W.Va., April 20, 1936.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clark, and mother, Corah Belle (Reed) Peayatte; his wife, Ruth Peyatt; granddaughter, Terri Lynn Lewis; and four siblings.
Survivors include four children, Teresa Peayatte of Tennessee, Ann, Clark III and Kenneth Peyatt of Springfield; grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Lewis of Tennessee, Tina Abushaala, Ashley, Lucas, Kenneth Jr. and Jonathan Peyatt of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Landon, Gavyn and William Lewis of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Clark volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Army, having served in France from 1951-1955. He made his home in Elizabethton for many years before and after returning from serving his country, helping raise his daughter Teresa, with her grandparents, Hugh and Hazel Grindstaff of Elizabethton.
If you notice the spelling of his parents’ last name you see a discrepancy. He learned to spell his name the way it sounded, not the correct way. When asked, I did the best I could. This is how he continued to live, being kind to people and coming back to Elizabethton to visit his many family and friends. He spent years dedicated to Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Springfield. He retired from Lagonda Tool Company in Springfield.
Clark was laid to rest April 2 at Rose Hill Mausoleum in Springfield, Ohio.
