Nyoka Jean Walker Perry

Nyoka Jean Walker Perry, 69, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Lillie Peters Walker.
Nyoka was a graduate of Unaka High School. She was an employee of the Elizabethton Star for over 20 years and also was employed at Folsom Printing Company. She loved to drink coffee, quilt and in earlier years loved to go camping. She was a member of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Williams, and two brothers, Dallas and Eugene Walker.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Sherrell Perry; her children, Megan Blystone and husband Kyle, Madison, Ala., and Daniel Perry and wife Sada, Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Alexis, Wesley and Robby Perry and Caleb Blystone; and one brother, Gordon Walker, Elizabethton.
Graveside services for Nyoka Jean Walker Perry will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Perry and Earl Bishop. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the family and friends who were supportive of them during her illness and the staff of Amedysis Hospice for all their care. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Sunday, prior to the graveside service. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
