Kaleb Williams receives special Marines’ pinning ceremony

Work put in by one Carter County soldier was recently recognized in a unique way this month.

Kaleb Williams, a 2014 Unaka High School graduate, is part of the United States Marine Corps and is stationed with the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office – Mid Atlantic (JPPSO–MA) in Virginia and was promoted to the rank of corporal on Monday, April 2.

During the promotion ceremony, which was held at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia, Kaleb’s father, David, was able to pin his rank on him.

“We are all very proud of him,” David, who is a veteran, told the Elizabethton Star.

Kaleb is the grandson of Roby and DeLona Osborne of Elizabethton.

According to the JPPSO–MA website, the office provides shipment, receipt and storage of personal property for military and civilian members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard moving into, within, or out of the National Capital Region including the District of Columbia and sizeable portions of the neighboring states of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Our Area of Responsibility (AOR) also currently includes the following installations: Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; Fort Meade, Maryland; Fort Detrick, Maryland; and Fort Lee, Virginia.
