Mrs. Helen Bowman Westmoreland, 87, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Burgess and Sarah Russell Bowman and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Westmoreland, and a daughter, Yvonne Westmoreland Bullard.
Mrs. Westmoreland was a retired school teacher and attended Pinecrest Baptist Church. She was a prolific writer of handwritten notes and cards and she loved to scrapbook and color.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Melvin Westmoreland of Atlanta, Ga., Cathy Westmoreland Waters, of the home, Curtis Westmoreland of Fayetteville, N.C., and Barry Westmoreland of Tracy, Calif. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive her.
A graveside service for Mrs. Westmoreland will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 12:20 p.m. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Pinecrest Baptist Church, 2129 Old Lewis Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
