It is all about providing hope.

That’s the message with individuals involved with Shiloh’s Hugs, a new ministry for children that’s looking to help those in need.

To help accomplish their mission within the community, organization members are looking to host an inaugural car show and swap meet to raise funds on Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at River’s Edge Fellowship Church, located across from CVS on US 19E in Elizabethton.

Over the course of the day, the public is invited to present their classic cars and set up a booth to sell items. Michael Miller, spokesperson for Shiloh’s Hugs, noted that it is $10 to enter a classic car, $15 to set up at a spot for the swap meet and $20 to do both.

All proceeds go to benefit the ministry, which was created to honor a young girl named Shiloh. Miller added that Shiloh’s Hugs will work under the River’s Edge Dream Center — a mission to help the homeless and less fortunate in the community — and provide coats, gloves, toboggans and other necessities children may need.

“We’re inviting the public to come out and see the work that’s going on at the Dream Center,” Miller said. “If someone isn’t able to make it, we’re also accepting donated items to help with the project.”

Another outlet for the ministry’s mission that will be utilized is the annual Back to School Bash at Harmony Free Will Baptist. Miller added they will work alongside Back to School Ministries as a way to help service those in need.

“Every bit of funding we raise will go directly into Shiloh’s Hugs for this project,” Miller added. In the months to come, Miller added the goal is to host an event that will serve as a way to distribute the items for those in need.

Options are available for those looking to assist with Shiloh’s Hugs and the River’s Edge Dream Center — which is currently serving 17 people according to their latest update.
