Stephen “Steve” Presnell

Stephen “Steve” Presnell, 59, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Steve was born in Carter County to Patsy “Pat” Wallace Presnell of Elizabethton and the late James “Jim” Presnell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, P.H. and Gertrude Wallace, and his paternal grandparents, Vance and Minnie Presnell.
Steve graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1976 and was also a graduate of East Tennessee State University. He had worked in the customer service industry and was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton, where he taught Children’s Sunday School and helped in Bible School. He enjoyed watching movies, classic TV shows and reading.
Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his mother include one sister, Laura Seagroves and husband Joe of Unicoi; a brother, Dr. Jim Presnell and wife Cindy of Lawrence, Kansas; a niece, Holly Presnell Rains and husband Ryan of Lawrence, Kansas; a nephew, Chris Presnell of Lawrence, Kansas; several cousins, including his special cousins, Earlene Marshall, Karen Marshall Reed and husband Jeff and Mick Marshall, all of Elizabethton, and Kathy Marshall Wilkes and husband Dale of Beaufort, S.C.
A celebration committal and inurnment will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Reverend Travis Tyler and Reverend Ron Owens officiating. Music will be under the direction of Debbie Gouge. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 4:15 p.m. Monday. A reception dinner will follow in the fellowship hall of Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton and everyone is invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Haiti Mission Trip at Grace Baptist Church, 1114 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family would like to express a special thank you to their church family of Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton, for their love, concern and gracious help, especially Larry Tierney, David Ferguson, David Bacon, Danny Birkner Jr., Michael Tierney, Jack Hamilton and Pastor Travis Tyler and others including Mike Taylor, Bill Bunton, Brian and Crystal Anderson and the men at Jeff Spear Homes. Also to the staff of Silver Angels and the staff and residents of Signature Health Care of Elizabethton (formerly Pine Ridge Care & Rehab).
