Charles Selmer Clawson, 65, of Elizabethton, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born October 22, 1952 in Banner Elk, N.C., he had lived his entire life in Carter County.
Charles was a graduate of Hampton High School. He was a Supervisor at Mapes Piano String until his retirement in December 2017. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and the TNT Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Clawson; a sister, Joan Rinconnes; and a niece, Rachel Clawson.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kathie Carver Clawson; his children, Shane and Tracie Clawson, Hampton, and Jennifer Lund and husband David, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Caleb Julian, Hanna Julian, Lauren Lund and Clinton Lund; one great-granddaughter, Marlee Julian; his mother, Irene Arnold Clawson; one brother, Michael Clawson and wife Sherry, Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Charles Selmer Clawson will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in the Carver Cemetery, Hampton. Active pallbearers will be Danny Tolley, Raymond Holtsclaw, Dennis Berry, Tommy Jenkins, Mark Schaff, Eric Buckles and Charlie Slagle. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Valley Forge Christian Church, members of the TNT Sunday School Class and co-workers at Mapes Piano String. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of The Bristol Cancer Center, the Staff of Vanderbilt University, Dr. Vivian Clark and Staff and the Staff of Caris Health Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp ACC or the Children’s Benevolence Fund, Valley Forge Christian Church.
