David “Buddy” Franklin Dingus

David “Buddy” Franklin Dingus, 69, of the Stoney Creek Community of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at his residence. David was born in Sico, Ky., to the late Frank Dingus and Juanita Lura Phillips Dingus Babb of Elizabethton.
David worked as a Senior Research Development Scientist and had several patents on his research. He had worked 20 years at Poco Graphite in Decatur, Texas and 16 years at Great Lakes Research. He was a member of Unaka Baptist Church and he loved motorcycles and shooting guns. David was known in this area for his photography — he did weddings, sports youth clubs and sports group pictures in area schools.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Judy Dingus, of the home; two sons, Chris Dingus of Elizabethton and Adam Dingus of Decatur, Texas; his adopted son, Ryan Stamey of Elizabethton; and three grandchildren, Mason Dingus, Nathan Dingus and Emily Dingus, all of Decatur, Texas.
The family will hold a celebration of life service for David “Buddy” Franklin Dingus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Unaka Baptist Church in Elizabethton with Pastor Stephen Greene officiating. An opening and closing prayer will be provided by Pastor Walker Roberson. Music will be provided by Beth Campbell. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Unaka Baptist Church Building Fund, 1598 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
