Brenda Sue Atwood Curbey, 60, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born February 21, 1958 in Elizabethton to the late George and Anna Ruth Cable Atwood. She had lived in Butler for several years before moving to Elizabethton.
Brenda was a 1975 graduate of Johnson County High School. She was a homemaker and in earlier years she was employed at Pizza Inn. She was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Layla Trivette and husband Doug and Lana Curbey, all of Hampton; two grandchildren, Alyiah Trivette and Kaylee Graybeal; three sisters, Patricia Tester and husband Doyle and Elizabeth Wallace and husband Terry, all of Butler, and Lora Lee Baker of Kentucky; three brothers, Robert Atwood and wife Georgeta Paun of Florida, Freddie Atwood and wife Naneth of Elizabethton, and George Atwood of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; the father of her children, Jeff Curbey; and a special friend, Charles Julian.
Funeral services for Brenda Sue Atwood Curbey will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Morefield officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Butler. Active pallbearers will be Charles Julian, Terry Wallace, Larry Tester, Doyle Tester, Jeff Curbey and Doug Trivette.
