Paula Carol Wilson Walker, 47, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Paula was born in Johnson City, Tenn., to Betty Carolyn Street Wilson, of Roan Mountain, and the late Paul Wendell Wilson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clyde C. Street and Marie Banks Street, and her paternal grandparents, Robert L. and Mary Long Wilson.
Paula was a 1987 graduate of Hampton High School. She also graduated both East Tennessee State University and Milligan College. Paula worked for 15 years as director of Carter County Adult High School. She was a very gifted and educated woman who loved animals, especially horses and dogs. She was also a talented musician and enjoyed playing piano.
Those left to cherish her memory, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Josh Walker, of the home; two sons, Dalton Webster, of Boones Creek, and Devin Balado, of the home; her brother, Chris Wilson and wife Lisa, of Roan Mountain; and nine nieces and nephews, Alex, Courtney, Madison, Stacia, Chelsie, Hallie, Clarisa, Bo and John.
A service to celebrate the life of Paula Carol Wilson Walker will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 2, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Gerald Holly providing the eulogy and Mr. Chris Wilson providing the message. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at her residence at any time. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 3, in the Greer Family Cemetery in the Burbank Community of Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Alex Gouge, Devin Balado, Dalton Webster, Steve Hayward, Brett Jones and Phillip Reeves. Honorary pallbearers will be John Banks, Mark Banks, Ben Moore, Danny Banks, Brad Morgan, Scotty Johnson and Dean Fields. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Foscoe Christian Church Building Fund, 8834 NC Highway 105 South, Boone, NC 28607.
