Tommy Gerald Edwards, 84, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Stewart and Faye Collins Edwards.
In earlier years, Tommy was employed as a machinist at the Raytheon Corporation and retired as an over the road truck driver with Richard Diehl. He was a member of Siam Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Robert Gene Edwards.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Earlene Bales Edwards; four children, Michael and wife Teresa Edwards, Lexington, S.C., Gary and wife Sharon Edwards, Linda and husband Rick Arnold and Lois Hylton, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Milon Herman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Tommy Gerald Edwards will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, August 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Roddy and the Rev. Ricky Lack officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Bill Anderson. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Chris Edwards, Jason Hylton, Neyland Sluder, Colby Garland, Timmy Garland, Steve Alexander, John Harmon and David Helton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 2500 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center for the excellent care he received. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Tommy to the Building Fund, Siam Baptist Church, 2414 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
