Ronald Lynn Meredith

Ronald Lynn Meredith, 72, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 6, 2018, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Ronald was born in Johnson City, Tenn., to the late Harry Burgie Meredith and Verna Helen Holly Meredith.
Ronald had worked as a private investigator and was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton, Tenn. He retired as a United States Army Major, having served in Vietnam during the 1968 TET Offensive, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry.
Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Bradley Meredith Dudley of Wichita Falls, Texas; his sister, Gayle Meredith Green and husband Mike of San Diego, Calif.; his brother, Neal Meredith of Johnson City, Tenn.; a nephew, Jason Allen Perry and wife Lisa of Encinitas, Calif.; a niece, Holly Perry Leivas and husband Tige of Encinitas, Calif.; two grandnieces, Luna and Fiona Perry, both of Encinitas, Calif.; one grandnephew, Charlie Leivas also of Encinitas, Calif.; the true love of his life, Judy Gasaway of Erwin, Tenn.; and a large community of friends affiliated with Unaka and Elizabethton High School girls’ sports programs.
A graveside service to honor the life of Ronald Lynn Meredith will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn., with Pastor Marty Murr officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the James H. Quillen VA Hospital Hospice Care Facility and Staff and the “No Vet Dies Alone” Volunteers for their care and support during Ronald’s illness.
