Alice Faye Lester Wynn

Alice Faye Lester “Ma” Wynn, 66, of Roan Mountain, formerly of Bradenton, Fla., passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at her residence, following an extended illness. Mrs. Wynn was born in Montcalm, W.Va., to the late Clayton Edward and Esther Lois Booksha Lester. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers (infant brother), David Lester, Donald Lester, Danny Lester and Dennis Lester.
Alice was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and was cherished by all. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching her cooking shows. Alice was an avid reader, collector of over 500 pairs of crazy socks, and she also collected over 200 snowmen during her lifetime.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 48 years, Avery Buford “Pops” Wynn, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammi and Andy Grill, Roan Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnathan and Heather Wynn, Roan Mountain; two grandchildren, Jacqueline McKinney and husband Randy, and Kayleigh Wynn, both of Roan Mountain; two great-grandchildren, Aria Faye Grill and Avery Mae McKinney (expected), both of Roan Mountain; special friends, Amanda Tolley and her son Carson, Rosella Richardson and Judy Heaton, all of Roan Mountain, and Betty Waters, Elizabethton; two nephews, Clayton Lester and wife Amanda, Gettysburg, Pa., and David Lester, Palmetto, Fla.; two nieces, Margaret Ann Singletary Smith and husband Jessie, Barry, Texas, and Karrie Mae Parsley and husband Brian, Ruskin, Fla.; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Alice Faye Lester “Ma” Wynn will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Delaney Berry, Rev. Tull Oaks and Rev. John McCoury officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at any time. A private graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank you to Ballad Home Health, Barbara, Paul and Leah, Amedisys Hospice, social worker, Debbie Hinkle, aide, Gayle, nurse, Lori Ligon, and Chaplain, Chris Hughes for the loving care given to Mrs. Wynn during her illness.
