Eleanor Rae (Hansford) Hampton

Eleanor Rae (Hansford) Hampton, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, entered her eternal home on September 2, 2018.
She was born on February 9, 1935 in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Ray and Nora Elizabeth (Long) Hansford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Hampton; a son, Michael Hampton; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard Earl and Judy Hansford; a grandson, Jacob Hampton; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter W. Hampton and Margaret Hampton.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Deborah Hampton; a grandson, Jesse Hampton and wife Angelica; great-granddaughters, Jessa Hampton and Lily Hampton; a niece, Dr. Harriette Hampton; a nephew, Bill Hampton and wife Holly; and many loving cousins, especially Patricia Mosman, a loving caregiver.
Eleanor was brought up in the First Methodist Church of Elizabethton and was one of the soloists in the choir. She continued her love of music by singing in the Elizabethton High School Choir, The Elizabethton Choral, and she was adjudged Most Talented Freshman at ETSU in 1953. After her marriage, she joined her husband at First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethton where she was a soloist in the church choir. Her home was filled with music and she shared it with many others as she sang at numerous weddings and funerals.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 7, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:20 a.m. The family would like to express gratitude to Mozetta Norris, her companion of many years, as well as Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Amedisys Hospice for the comfort and care shown to Eleanor.
