Katalin “Susie” Eva McKinney

Katalin “Susie” Eva McKinney, 90, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 3, 2018. Katalin was born in Kecskemet, Hungary to the late Jozsef and Julianna Kokeny Racsko. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ethan Homer McKinney; an infant daughter, Annabell McKinney; two sisters, Iren and Matild; and a brother, Jozsef.
Susie came to the United States in 1948 with her American soldier husband and proudly became a citizen in 1959.
She retired from Texas Instruments and was an active member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible, quilting, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her six sons, Larry McKinney and his wife Carla, Kenneth and Sherry McKinney, Michael McKinney and his wife Jo, Bryce McKinney and his wife Beverly, Bruce McKinney and David McKinney and his wife Tonya; nine grandchildren, Amber, Ryan, Meredith, Merritt, Brandon, Brenna, Shatonna, Andrew and Alison; 16 beloved great-grandchildren, Peyton, Lilly Kate, Maggie, Carter, Mallory, Grady, Devon, Elijah, Alexandria, Brett, Ty, Amanda, Mary Jane, C.J., McKynlee and Madalyn; and a cousin in Budapest, Hungary, Istvan Ormos and his wife Jutka, and their children, Peter and Judith. She is also survived by special sisters-in-law, Marlene McKinney, Pauline Hoilman, Edith Sutton and Jo Ann McKinney, and several other family members and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Katalin “Susie” Eva McKinney will be conducted at noon Saturday, September 8, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, Tenn., with Rev. Justin Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Cemetery, 434 Browns Branch Road, Hampton, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be her sons. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews, Richard Sutton, Keith Sutton, Brenda Cox, Richard Cox, Dennis Berry, Pat Burrow, Tim McKinney, Tom McKinney, Gary McKinney and Christopher McKinney. The family would like to thank Lowell and Ruby Garrison, Jimmy and Tammy Oxendine, Rachel Tester and all of Susie’s friends at East Side Freewill Baptist Church for the love and care shown to Susie and her family.
