Mildred Austin Harrell

Mildred Austin Harrell, 84, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born June 30, 1934 in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late G.C. and Lois Chambers Austin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Harrell; a brother, Charles Ray Austin; sons, Chad McKeehan and Ron Harrell; and four nephews, Charles Ray Austin II, Eddie Miller, Bill Austin and Johnny Michael Austin.
Mildred was a 1953 graduate of Happy Valley High School and retired from Texas Instruments. She was of the Methodist faith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, caregiver and best friend, Patsy Mullis, of the home; two daughters, Regina (Gary) Tucker of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and Patti (Steve) Townsend of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Drew (Kelsey) Harrell, Amy (Brandon) Wandel, Cara (Matt) Stout and Becky (Nick) Townsend-Payne; four great-grandchildren, Dayton, Kimberlyn and Azariah Payne and Luke Wandel; one niece, Connie (Bobby) Collins; three great-nieces, Paige Miller, Allison and Andrea Austin; and three great-nephews, Bud Hicks, Hunter Miller and Chase Austin. Several cousins also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mildred Austin Harrell will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 13, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Todd Wolfe and Mr. Billy Murphy, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Susie Wolfe. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the residence at any time. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 14, at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Wandel, Matt Stout, Nick and Dayton Payne, James Arnett, Bud Hicks and Chase Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris and Neil Arnett, Drew Harrell, Greg Chambers, Hunter Miller and Bobby Collins. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession.
