It’s the law: Constitution must be taught in school

To the editor:
All schools should obey the law and teach about the U.S. Constitution. Constitution Day was established as a federal holiday in 2004, to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. Federal law requires public schools observe that day and teach on the Constitution, but a survey showed most schools ignore the law. Surveys also show the need for better education on our government and Constitution. As we celebrate the 231st anniversary of the Constitution this year we should read it, study it with our children and discuss its great principles. You can read it at www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution or at the public library.
Americans should be thankful to God for our Constitution that’s given us more freedom than any country in the world. James Madison said, “We wouldn’t have a Constitution were it not for the intervention of God.” Our founders had just fought the Revolutionary War, when a popular slogan was, “No King but King Jesus.” Our Christian founders, knowing the Bible and that people are evil and can’t be trusted with total power, established separation of powers, checks and balances and three branches of government from the Bible, Jeremiah 15:9, Isaiah 33:22, etc.
Our Constitution is original and unique. It’s the oldestConstitution still in force in the world today, the source of our remarkable political stability and freedom. Our Constitution has been so successful that America is the longest on-going constitutional republic in the history of the world! Don’t disrespect our Constitution to push a liberal agenda like the ACLU did 30 years ago to get a permanent restraining order on Carter County Schools. Don’t disrespect our Constitution like the liberal members of the U.S. Supreme Court who overreached on their decision to make a new right to abortion in 1973 and a new right to same-sex marriage in 2015. Respect our U.S. Constitution, the supreme law of the land for 231 years and the difference between being governed and being ruled!
Only Jesus is worthy to rule earth and take the title deed from God. Revelation 5 says, “Who is worthy to open the book and loose the seals thereof?” “And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book neither to look thereon.” Most likely Jesus wasn’t found because Jesus was above the earth rapturing Christians. A few verses later we read, “And they (Christians) sung a new song, saying, “Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and has redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue and people, and nation.” Soon Christians will sing this song in heaven and all the world will hear these words, “Blessing and honor and glory and power, be unto him that sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb (Jesus) for ever and ever!”
