David W. Hatley, 77, of Butler, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 27, 2018. David was born in Carter County, Tenn., on July 18, 1941, to the late Wiley Thomas Hatley and Eliza Fay Isaacs Hatley. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Maybell Isaacs Hatley; two brothers, JD Hatley and Tom Hatley; and a sister, Geraldine Hatley.
David was a carpenter by trade but was also active in the Elk Mills Fire Department for many years. He was a member of Elk River Baptist Church in Butler, Tenn.
Those left to cherish David’s memory are his two sisters, Thelma Stanton and Erlene “Dean” Garland of Butler, Tenn.; two brothers, Bud Hatley of Mountain City, Tenn., and Dewey Hatley of Butler, Tenn.; two daughters, Melissa and husband James Morefield of Butler, Tenn., and Debbie and husband Steve Roark of Mountain City, Tenn.; two sons, Kevin and wife Glenda Hatley of Elizabethton, Tenn., and David Hatley Jr. of Ocala, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ernie Potter of Butler, Tenn.
Pallbearers are Vern Stanton, Terry Stanton, Opal Cable, Ernie Potter, Steve Lewis and Tommy Cable. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Elk Mills Fire Department and members of Elk River Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 2 until 3 p.m. Saturday, September 29, in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with services to follow. James Richardson and Charles Cable will officiate the services. Following the services, we will proceed to Isaacs Cemetery for the burial service.
