James Edward “Coonie” Moore

James Edward “Coonie” Moore, 65, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Edward Clarence and Audrey Marie Morris Moore.
Coonie was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and was retired from Thomas Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator. He previously was employed by Summers-Taylor for 27 years.
Coonie was a member of Borderview Christian Church. His hobby was fishing with his friend, Eddie Easterly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Peters, and a brother, Michael David “Byrd” Moore, who died May 31, 2018.
Survivors include his children, Lora Moore, Josh Moore, Brittany Moore Price and husband Eddie and Chelsea Moore; four grandchildren, Zane Johnson, Adalynn Marie Moore, Kaden Price and Zachary David Holsclaw; his sister, Wyonna Carver; his brother, Terry Lee Moore; the mother of his children, Jannie Moore; and his caregiver, Debbie Townsend.
Funeral services for Mr. Moore will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill Younce officiating. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, in the Old Slagle Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Dennis Carpenter, Tony Townsend, Larry Gregg, Wade Bulla, David Blevins and Mark Bridgeman. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
