Racheal Corder

Racheal Corder, 47, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at her residence, following an extended illness. Racheal was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Grover Sidney Hicks and Lois Jean (Beam) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Heaven Leigh Hicks; her paternal grandparents, Grover and Norma Hicks; her maternal grandparents, Roy and Emma Beam; a great-nephew, Parker Hicks; an aunt, Linda Hawkins; and her step-father, Wayne Smith.
Racheal had worked as a medical records clerk for MSHA and was of the Baptist faith. She was a 1988 graduate of Hampton High School and was a loving wife, daughter and friend. Racheal loved God, her cats and she had a spunky, fiery spirit that will live on in the lives of those she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Chris Corder, of the home; two step-children, Tyler Corder of Elizabethton and Kinsey Corder of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Dawn Hughes and husband Todd of Hampton; three brothers, Eric Hicks and wife Shirley of Elizabethton, Kevin Hicks of Washington, and Greg Hicks of Hampton; two nephews, Allen Hicks of Elizabethton and Joseph Corder of Hampton; her brother-in-law, John “Tater” Corder and wife Karen of Hampton; her sister-in-law, Ellen Roark and husband David of Elizabethton; and her mother-in-law, Ruby Corder of Elizabethton.
A service to celebrate the life of Racheal Corder will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 4, at Ensor Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be John “Tater” Corder, Tyler Corder, Troy Davis, Toby Guinn, Brian Grindstaff and Nate Zollman. Honorary pallbearers will be Melanie Dugger Barnett, Gina O’Quinn and Regina Clark Moore. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Regional Cancer Center of Johnson City Medical Center and Wellmont Hospice for the love and care shown to Racheal and her family during her illness.
