Myrtle Evelyn Hardin Buckles

Myrtle Evelyn Hardin Buckles, 98, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Myrtle was born in Carter County to the late Alvin and Bessie Bowers Hardin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude T. Buckles, in 1999, and five brothers, Eston Hardin, Grant Hardin, Greene Hardin, John Alfred Hardin and Garney Hardin.
Myrtle was a homemaker and a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Gerald Buckles and wife Jane of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Paula Ensor of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Josh Finney, Sabrina Jones, Jane Hart, Angi Bradnan, Lou Campbell and her Caris Hospice providers.
A service to celebrate the life of Myrtle Evelyn Hardin Buckles will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 8, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Dr. Kenneth Jordan and Pastor Doug Rasnick officiating. Music will be provided by Howard and Vivian Hammonds. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence of her son at other times. The graveside service will follow at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dustin Buckles, Jamie Hughes, Dallas Pierce, Leonard Buckles, Jerry Buckles and Shirley Bowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Campbell, Melvin Oliver, Jamie Hardin, Mike Nidiffer, Greg Nidiffer, Ed Thompson, Mike Fletcher and members of Willow Springs Baptist Church. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Willow Springs Baptist Church, 544 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
