To the Editor:
First and foremost, I want to thank Bill Carter for voting against the measure to allow pub bars in downtown Elizabethton.
Allowing establishments to serve only alcoholic beverages attracts people only interested in drinking and increases problems for the police and our citizens. Elizabethton is not Johnson City or Bristol. Thank goodness. Downtown Johnson City and Bristol are not my idea of attractive places for families to go at night.
Revitalizing the downtown area to attract families is an excellent idea and needs to be done, but alcoholic beverages is not the right only way to do it.
