Watauga Assoc. of Baptists celebrate 150th anniversary

The Watauga Association of Baptists will celebrate its 150th anniversary at the annual fall meeting Thursday, Oct. 18, at Doe River Baptist Church.
The meeting will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and will feature Dr. Randy Davis as guest speaker. Dr. Davis is Executive Director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
Also, the Rev. Bob Polk, former Associational Director of Missions, will reflect on his research into the founding of the association. His story of the association is recorded in the book, “Missionary At Heart: The Story of Watauga Association of Baptists in Northeast Tennessee, 1868-2007.”
Serving the Association as Director of Missions have been Miss Gertrude Hale, the Rev. William Powell, followed by the Rev. Polk, and then, the Rev. Ray Sorrells.
The present Director of Missions is the Rev. Jack Roddy.
