David Mack Whaley, 51, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. He was born November 30, 1966 in Elizabethton.
David was a graduate of Hampton High School and attended Herman Robinson Vocational School. He was employed as a Millwright. David was a member of Fish Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mack Arthur Whaley, and a brother, Tim Whaley.
Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Jean Sutphin, Elizabethton; a wonderful very special loving little grandson, Roadie Raymond Sutphin; his mother, Jane Richardson; his sister, Betty Pelletier; the mother of his daughter, Mildred Richardson; and a special friend, Benny Lyons.
Funeral services for David Mack Whaley will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Presnell and the Rev. Willie Campbell officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, in the Whaley Family Cemetery, Butler. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the ER and ICU of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of his mother, Jane Richardson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Suite 356, Johnson City, TN 37604.
