Fort Watauga’s annual Evening of Scary Stories

Fort Watauga was haunted by ghosts, ghouls and scary stories that frightened around 500 visitors to Sycamore Shoals for the annual Evening of Scary Stories Thursday evening.

Many different ghosts and ghouls, including Jacob Marley, greeted guest as they arrived at Fort Watauga.

Members of the Friends of Sycamore Shoals Chad Bogart, Mary Jane Kennedy and C. Keith Young provided an evening of the both weird, scary, humor and just plain frightening stories.

Each shared a pair of stories including  Kennedy’s Dancing in the Graveyard & The Cursed Chewing Gum, Young’s The Saga of Sailor Sam & The Curse of King Arthur’s Gold and Bogart’s Grandpa sees the Devil & The Dancing Fiddle.

Bogart also provided some much needed laughs as he sang a parody of the classic song “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” which was first performed by Vaughn Monroe, called “Ghost Chickens in the Sky.”
