Jewell D. Carver Canter

Jewell D. Carver Canter, 74, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Jewell was born in Elizabethton to the late John and Frances McKinney Carver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Jewell was a loving wife, mother and sister and was a member of East Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was an avid Tony Stewart fan. She also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 28 years, Edward Canter, of the home; a son, Mark Hamby and wife Sharon of Jonesborough; a step-son, Douglas Canter and wife Amber of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Samantha Baker (Stanley Horton), Kayla Hamby (Casey Bogart) and Darrell Collins and wife Taylor; a step-grandson, Austin Canter; her great-grandchildren, Willow Horton, Savy Bogart, Maggie Collins, Mallorie Collins and Mollie Collins; a brother, Jimmy Carver and wife Linda of Johnson City; and his sisters, Jenny Crowe and husband Greg of Elizabethton and Judy Jeffers and Jacqulene Dugger, both of Johnson City.
A service to celebrate the life of Jewell D. Carver Canter will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Carl Grindstaff officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sacred Journey. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 9, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mark Hamby, Darrell Collins, Tim Carver, Greg Crowe, Danny Carver, Denny Carver and Eric O’Quinn. Honorary pallbearers will be members of East Fairview Free Will Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday.
