Investigators with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect in a theft that took place Saturday at a Dollar General store on Highway 19E.

Surveillance video caught a male suspect making a purchase from an employee. When the employee opened the cash register, the suspect reached across the counter and began taking money out of the drawer. He also continued to push the register open and fought the employee’s attempts to close the drawer and push him away. He ran out of the store with less than $100 stolen.

The suspect is a white male, approximately 6’6”, and was wearing a green jacket, black shirt, blue jeans, silver glasses, and a Tennessee Volunteers hat. He was seen leaving in a tan, two door car.
