JL, Bun, Potter, 62, of 352 Fork Mountain Road, Roan Mountain, died at home from a heart-related illness on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Bun passed from this life surrounded by a loving wife of 34 years, Sandy Potter; his devoted son, Sam Potter; and his loyal companion, Rattler.
Bun was born on January 13, 1956 to the late Gene and Amanda Carnett in Elizabethton, Tenn. Bun was a logger by trade and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by Sam’s fiancée, Chelsey Austin, an extended family he adored, and an abundance of lifelong friends. Bun will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and friend to all he met.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 1, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Fork Mountain Freewill Baptist Church to celebrate Bun’s life. In lieu of flowers, Bun’s memory will best be honored by donations to Cloudland High School Welding Class where Sam teaches. Bun loved to visit the welding class. He took pride in seeing the students excel in their trade. The family extends a heartfelt thank you for every call, visit, meal, and prayer.
