Rachel (Ray) Woodby, dear wife, mother and grandmother, of Elizabethton, entered the presence of her loving savior on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness.
Rachel was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and grew up in England before marrying U.S. Airman Van Woodby. They lived in several states and overseas with the Air Force before settling in Elizabethton. Rachel worked at Kress and TG&Y stores. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church and was presently a member of West Side Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha Anderson, her sister, Lily Owen, and niece, Lisa Light, all of England.
Survivors include her husband, Van Woodby; her sons, Glenn Woodby and Garren Woodby and wife Penny; and a granddaughter, Grace Woodby. Survivors in the U.K. include Mike Owen and family and the Light family.
A simple private family service will be conducted at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. Greg Key officiating. The family would like to thank the ICU Staff at Sycamore Shoals Hospital for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make donations to the West Side Christian Church Van Fund, 1307 West G Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or any charity of their choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
