Linda Sue Fletcher

Linda Sue Fletcher, 75, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2019, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Linda was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Robert and Myrtle Simerly Hinkle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Fletcher and Wayne Fletcher; two brothers, Robert Hinkle Jr. and Ron Hinkle; and two sisters, Shirley Rugg and Royalene Fletcher.
Linda loved tending her flowers, cooking and taking care of her family. She was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, Denvis Fletcher, of the home; two sons, Dave Hinkle and wife Gretchen of Pilot Rock, Ore., and Danny Fletcher and wife Angie of Butler, Tenn.; one daughter, Susie Allen of Elizabethton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Hyder and June Merritt.
The family will hold a memorial service to honor the life of Linda at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Lynn Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
