Milligan Track & Field: Ferguson grabs top-25 finish day one of national championships

Milligan College sophomore Amy Ferguson earned a spot in the national top 25 to highlight the first day of action at the 2019 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships Thursday.

Ferguson, the 2017 AAC cross country freshman of the year, ran the 5000 meters in 18:52.61 which was good for 12th in her heat and 24th overall nationally. The only other Buffs competing were in the 4×800 meter relay which was one of two groups to suffer disqualification.

Day two of the national championships is set for Friday. The day will feature preliminaries for Tim Thacker (mile), Rasheem Brown (60-meter hurdles), Erica Stone and Bekah Owen (1k), and Gabrielle Mardis (3k). Liz Maller also will compete in the prelim and final of the weight throw.
