Buffs cap swim season with one more All-American

COLUMBUS, Ga. (March 2, 2019) – Sophomore Margaret Halloran earned another All-American finish to conclude results for Milligan College at the 2019 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships Saturday.

Halloran, already a 2019 All-American in the 100 backstroke, earned her second All-American of the meet with a seventh-place finish in the 200 backstroke. She finished in a Milligan record 2:08.75 in the prelim before touching the wall in 2:09.49 in the final.

Halloran also was a part of the 400 free relay team which qualified for the B final and took 14th overall. Halloran, Jordan ClarkAnna Whitfield and Sara Farmer dropped five seconds off their seed time and the Milligan record to finish in 3:41.96.

Similarly, Sterling BurnettJavin WilliamsLogan Garzonio and Matthew McFalls represented the men’s 400 free relay which earned a spot in the B final and took 15th overall. Their time of 3:12.42 dropped 10 seconds off their seed time.

Six other Buffs posted top-30 finishes in the morning session. Maci Montgomery swam to 11th in the 1650 freestyle in 19:27.72. Isaac Etherton went 17th in the 200 butterfly in a Milligan record 1:57.01, dropping one second off his seed time but missing the final by one spot (0.29 seconds). Farmer went 27th in the 100 freestyle in 54.52. Anna Hathcock went 27th in the 200 butterfly in 2:21.04. Jarod Blazo went 28th in the 200 backstroke in 2:01.15. Burnett swam to 29th in the 100 freestyle in 47.79, dropping two seconds.

Milligan finished this swim season with three All-Americans. Halloran, now a five-time All-American, earned two (100 back, 200 back). Farmer, now a two-time All-American, earned one (100 back).
