Man arrested, charged after shooting in Poga community

Carter County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested and charged a man after a shooting early Sunday morning on Poga Road.

Investigators have charged 51-year-old Claude Harvey Banner with second-degree attempted murder after he shot 49-year-old Marvin Lee Clawson.

Deputies were called to the 600 block of Poga Road around 3 a.m. Sunday. Banner and Clawson both stated to deputies that Banner shot Clawson. EMS transported Clawson to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment. As of Monday morning, he was in stable condition.

Banner is being held in the Carter County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
