Shirley Jo White Hicks, 86, of Hampton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Hazel Smith White.
Shirley was a graduate of Hampton High School. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and she loved her church family very much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Anne Lindsey; a sister, Sue White McQueen; and a brother, Tom White.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Hicks; a granddaughter, Cherity Swift Bennett; a great-grandson, Ethan Bennett; her sisters, Earlene Theilacker and husband George and Sallie Deloach, all of San Diego, Calif., and Jane Ishem and husband Wally, Hampton; her sister-in-law, Nancy Laws White, Hampton; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Thomas White; and a special friend, Kenneth Rainbolt.
Graveside services for Shirley Jo White Hicks will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, in the White Family Cemetery with Mr. Buddy Street officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Stout, Bud Street, Johnny Street, Lester “Spec” Smith and Richard Lacey.
