An appeal made for local homeless shelter

To the Editor:
Homeless in Carter County need your help. Are you aware that there is a homeless shelter in Elizabethton? River Edge Dream Center located at River Edge Fellowship, 1200 19-E Bypass, is helping as many homeless as they can. The question is what can we do?
We, the citizens of Carter County, can help the center with donations of food, money, socks, shoes, clothes, towels, cleaning supplies, coffee, creamer, sugar, etc. What if every church, every business, every club or individual sent in a donation, no matter how small each month to help with expenses? Everyone doing something can change lives. Next time you are under your covers in your warm, comfortable dry bed, remember there are people less fortunate living on our streets. This is our community, our little corner of the world; let’s make it better by supporting the ones in need.
So, ask what can I do, and then please do it. Text or call Darren Smith at 335-3159 with any questions. Large donation pickup is also available. Food and money donations may be dropped off at River Edge Fellowship Church. Clothes and other donations can be dropped off at The Thrift Store at 555 Highway 91 in Elizabethton.
Thank you for your support. Every little bit helps and if we all do our part we can help touch the lives of the less fortunate in our community.
